Scrappy Saturday & Sunday
Hello again and welcome to my first Scrappy Saturday/Sunday post. I will show the photographs of the finished layouts from the weekend below and if you would like to see my process, you will find my video showing my starting point over at https://fb.watch/o0xDyjHsSp/ and the walk through of the finished layouts at https://fb.watch/o0xIw9GzJq/
Layout One I made pretty much as planned and overall I am happy with it …..except for the stickers, gosh how I hate stickers! In my defence I am trying really hard to us up as much of my old stash as possible, even when scrappy with a brand new collection, but thin alphabet stickers are a nightmare. I think these came with a kit I bought a long time ago and they were really tricky to handle and are really wonky on the title so I will get the dental floss out ease them back off, use an alphabet die and the same card as I used to die cut the date to replace them, tonight, then I can sleep peacefully lol!
Layout Two has the background paper and border I originally planned, and the photos, but absolutely nothing else! I am however really happy with it, and just need to find another two rose gold paperclips for the other photo bundles and it is completely finished.
Layout Three is exactly as I planned - ok maybe not the wonky photo on the bottom right of the page! I have two tags to create for the journaling pocket under the title but otherwise finished.
Layout Four has a deeper border than I first thought I would have and this works better for me. The photo at the bottom right is again a pocket and I will again add to tags, one with a small photo taken of the Headmaster around the time the other photos were taken, and one for some journaling. The skeleton leaves embellishment was just die cut from dark brown card using a die from Craft Emotions with some pretty red/gold leafing added which doesn’t show up too well in the photo but I have wonderful memories of the walk when I took these photos and I am really happy with the layout.
Layout Five is a big blank at the moment as I will have to search for the right photo for it after discarding the ones I chose originally, and I am determined to find a way of using the other two big, flowery borders I so painstakingly fussy cut, so will show the results later in the week. However, I am happy to have created four layouts from one paper pad, with just a few bits form my stash, and I will try using this same process for other non scrapbooking projects in future as I feel it did make me focus and having less choice around me did, I think, make me spend my time creating rather than simply sifting stash. How do you create? Lots of product or minimal? Prepped and pre-planned or go with the flow? we are all so different I think it would be interesting to explore our, no doubt, very different approaches. What do you think, let me know in the comments below Valx
